BUFC Teams Take Four Titles at MB Preseason Classic

Lions, Panthers, Pumas, Strikers Strike Gold in Debuts

Beach United Football Club opened the 2018 season Aug. 26-27 by hosting the Myrtle Beach Preseason Classic at The Market Common sports complex. If the first tournament was any indication, it could be another big year for BUFC.

Four BUFC teams - two boys and two girls - went undefeated over the weekend to capture their respective division championships, and another team finished runner-up to give the host club a lot of momentum going into the year.

In boys action, the BUFC Lions went undefeated to run away with the U-11 Boys title. They allowed only one goal in three games while scoring nine to claim the championship.

The BUFC Strikers also ran the table in the U-12 Boys division, scoring a total of 28 goals in four games while allowing only one. In the U-14 division, the BUFC Thunder and Force finished third and fourth, respectiuvely, as did the BUFC Warriors and Legends in the U-17/18 Boys division.

In girls action, the BUFC Pumas went 3-0 to win the Girls U-15-17 championship. They allowed only one goal all weekend on a contested penalty kick call and conversion. The younger Flash squad took second in their pool.

The BUFC Panthers went a perfect 3-0 to capture the U-14 Girls title, outscoring opponents by a combined score of 17-3. The BUFC Tigers went 2-1 to take second place in the U-12 Girls division.

The tournament caps a stellar weekend for BUFC and marks the start of a busy fall season as several teams begin league and tournament play in September.
