BUFC Teams Get Taste of MLS, Great Competition at Charleston Cup

Crew, Strikers claim finalist honors; every team experiences victory

The Beach United Football Club kicked off the winter soccer season over the weekend of Feb. 17-18 at the Charleston Challenge Cup with two teams reaching the finals of their age divisions.

The BUFC Strikers and BUFC Crew each finished runner-up at the prestigious tournament. The Crew went 3-1 on the weekend, while the Strikers went 2-1-1 before falling the final.

Every team experienced at least one win on the weekend. The Tigers went 2-1, the Crush went 1-1-1 and the Lions went 1-2 with both losses coming in close games.

All five teams were treated to an MLS exhibition game at the Charleston Battery Stadium. Overall it was a great experience for BUFC's younger teams, with the older squads taking part in the same tournament next weekend.
